How do I evict my mother and sister if we have no lease?

04/28/2009 - Landlord Tenant - State: ALL #16318

Full Question:

What do you have to do if you want your mother and sister to move out of your house? There is no agreement on paper and they refuse to move out.

Answer:

New York statutes require notice of termination to be provided in writing by the landlord before bringing an eviction action. If a tenant is residing in the premises without a written agreement, they are considered a tenant at will.
