What is the legal age for child to stay home alone? - minors
05/08/2007 - Minors - State: NY #4187
Full Question:
What is the legal age for a minor to stay alone after school in the home? Is their a statute that states this?
Answer:
We were unable to find a specific statute in New York that addresses the issue and one site reports that there is no legally mandated age as to when a child can be left alone in New York. This does not mean that a statute or other law does not exist for New York but we did not locate a statute
Other States do have laws addressing the subject and there are general guidelines that could apply for all States.
