Answer:
An employee can have up to three hours to vote if the polls are not open three consecutive hours outside the employee’s regular shift. The employee must apply individually and in writing for leave prior to Election Day. The time off is paid. The employer may specify the time off that it will give to the employee. (Iowa Code Section 49.109)
