How do I obtain a Mortgage Satisfation?
Full Question:
If the attorney that handled the property transaction 20 years ago is no longer around and I cannot locate the previous owner, how do I get a satifaction of Lein on my property so I can sell it?

Answer:
The person holding the lien should be the one to cancel. If it was a mortgage company they can be located. If an individual you could attempt to locate. If they cannot be found, the Trustee named in the mortgage could release the debt. If the debt has expired by it's terms the title company could write over the mortgage. If the lien is not a mortgage whoever filed the lien would be the one to release. If all else fails, a Suit to Remove the lien could be filed. Hope this helps.
