My boyfriend and I signed a lease on our apartment together, and one day he decides he wants to leave no notice or anything. Is he still responsible for his half of the rent or am I held accountable?

When two people sign a lease they are generally both equally responsible for the full lease payment. The fact that he has left does not relieve him from payment of the lease. However, you are still liable for the full lease payment, if he does not pay, and you will have to collect from him the 1/2 you and he agreed he would pay.
As a practical matter, unless he pays you, you are responsible for the full rent amount.
