Full Question:

I have 2 questions: 1. What does Texas law say when a brother and sister have to have their own bedrooms and not sleeping in the same room? 2. What does Texas law say what is the appropriate age a minor may babysit other children?

Answer:

Answer to Question 1: There do not appear to be any laws regulating whether and until what age siblings of the opposite sex may share a bedroom. This may become an issue with state child protective services in situations involving foster homes or in custody battles. You will need to make this decision based on what is healthy in the long term for the children and their privacy.

Answer to Question 2: Most states have not enacted laws regarding the age at which a child may care for other children, but the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services provides helpful information.
