If my attorney makes a settlement on my behalf how do I know what money is paid out and for what?

If your attorney makes a settlement on your behalf and he does not show you (or offer to show you) a copy of the settlement check and/or checks that he/she wrote to pay expenses out of the settlement money, is there another way to find out how much the case was settled for?
