I am being forced out of a business that I am a partner in. What are my options?
Full Question:
I have been working in a CPA firm for 29 years and have been a partner there for 17 years. The senior partner is retireing. The other two partners are buying his shares with the condition he retires in 30 days and they want me out in 30 days. I was never informed of their decision (two days before they told me they were not buying the senior partners shares) they had the senior parrtner tell me. This happened on May 1st and it is now May 24th I do not have anything in writing nor has my attorney received anything. I have attempted 4 times to speak with them to set up a meeting so we can discuss this matter. (by phone, e-mail and notes on the senior partners desk in a sealed env.) they refuse to meet with me. There is no known reason for them to act this way, I have a spotless reputation and respected in the community. What are my options? I am not getting a whole lot of advice from my attorney. The only thing he has told me is not to leave or take any assets until I have a signed written agreement, but what else can I do? I feel like I am in limbo, currently I am working out of my home and go to the office when I need files, check messages etc.
