Full Question:
My daughter has worked for a Dairy Queen in Great Falls Mt. for the past 10 years. She was made general manager back in March of this year. Is it lawful for a boss to hire their own family (daughter and son) and knock you back down to manager, just so the daughter or son, can have that job title? Mind you, they have never worked there before and I think it is illegal for them to do this to my daughter. I thought it was called nepotism or something like that, but I can't find this definition.

Answer:
Nepotism is typically only outlawed in certain public employment. Private employers may issue their own policies on nepotism, but they are not legal obligations. However, private firms must legally and ethically follow diversity policies when recruiting and promoting, otherwise they risk violating important anti-discrimination laws.
