Will a Land Patent Protect Me or Save on Taxes I Owe?
Full Question:
Answer:
A Land Patent certifies absolute and supreme title to land. While land under a land patent can't be seized for debts or taxes, that doesn't mean that the land owner will be exempt from liability. For example, knowingly entering into an agreement with the intent of not fulfilling the agreement may lead to a charge of fraud.
There are advocates who promote disavowing citizenship in order to avoid liability for debts such as property taxes. However, a land patent generally will not remove obligations for taxes and other debts.
