I need to remove a Federal lien on my home. My wife was convicted in a Federal Court and they placed a lien on my house because her name is on the deed. Her name is not on the loan. The problem is you are going to have to pay the fines, penalties or whatever is the cause of the lien before the lien will be removed. Or coordinate with the federal entity that filed the lien to pay it off from the proceeds of the sale. Your wife's name on the deed is all they need. She is an owner of the land, it is an asset that can be used to pay off the outstanding amounts. The Feds aren't going to agree to remove the lien, and you can't just make it go away. Contact the federal entity with the lien. They will work with you to arrange the payment of the penalties through the proceeds of the sale of the house.
