Why would the cost of rehab for my child's mother be added to my child support?
Full Question:
I am currently paying child support through child support recovery in Georgia. My son is 12 years old and lives with his mother. My child's mother has gone through drug rehab twice (not successfully either time) and each time she goes in the center my child support bill goes up approximately $2,500 for her treatment (or this is my understanding). Why am I responsible for paying for her treatment, when I have no say so in her decision making. I owe an additional $5,000 to my normal payments just because of her going in rehab on two separate occasions.

Answer:
I suggest consulting a local attorney to review the terms of your support order. Generally, medical expenses may be made part of a support award, based upon the circumstances of the parties and facts involved.
