I have a friend and he has one child by a woman, this woman also has an older child from a previous relationship in which this childs biological father doen't support and isn't in has life. My friend has take on the responsiblity of this child also in fathering and support. My question is will he if taken to court on this matter be held responsible financialy for this child as his own biological child? Is there a law that support this?

Case law ordering child support by non-biological fathers exists, but the determination is made on a case-by-case basis, depending on the facts and circumstances in each case. A child not born of the marriage may still be entitled to child support from a non-biological father if he knowingly accepted financial responsibility for the child prior to the divorce proceeding or if he knowingly acknowledged the child as his own at birth or any time thereafter.
