Full Question:

What is the legal age to move out and the legal age to drop out of school? Since I am only 17 my car is in my parents name how would I get that into my name?

Answer:

The age of majority in Illinois is 18. Until that time you are considered a minor and under the supervision of your parents. Only if you become emanicipated prior to 18 would that supervision cease. An emanicipation is generally a court action to remove the disability of minority but has to be based on reasons and can be contested by the parents.
