What are the requirements for becoming emancipated without parents permission?
Full Question:
My friend is 17 and she wants to become emancipated. Her mother let her move over the weekend and Tuesday my friend called her mother and her mother started laughing at her and told her she was stupid if she (my friend) thought that she(her mother) was going to let her stay. Now my friend has to pack up and move back. My friends mother emotionally abuses her day in and day out. She can no longer stand being in her presence and she is threatining to harm herself if she has to stay with her mother. She has tried to live with her father but he cannot support her. My friend is on the brink of a total meltdown. Is there any way that she can be emancipated without going through the courts or getting married or joining the armed forces? I mean isn't there something that can be done considering she is being emotionally abused?
