How do I have my name removed from the loans on my husband's cars?
Full Question:
My husband and I have live insurance together. He recently asked for a divorce and the company will not give me information on the policy if he says not to. Can I have him submit a letter to them authorizing them to keep me informed about my policy and that he can't make changes unless notifying me. The other part of my question: I co-signed for my husband's two cars. The first car was totaled and the insurance company paid it off; so, now they are calling for more payments. The second was repossessed. I do not drive and I recently cleaned up my credit. Can my name be taken off the cars? I found out recently that my husband doesn't care. He says he will go away on Monday to file for divorce. I just want my name off the cars and to make sure my life insurance is not in danger. What can I do? We both want to move on and I want to buy a house.

Answer:
It is possible the car dealer will let your husband assume the loan. If your name isn't on the policy for life insurance, you would have to request the information through discovery.
