How do I get a writ of assistance?
Full Question:
My son has a court order for his two sons, 10 & 12, to have primary residence with him. The maternal grandparents are saying they are going to keep the 10 yr old with them across the country. I have been told that we need a writ of assistance. Do we need a lawyer for this, and how much will it cost?

Answer:
We cannot give legal advice, and are not forming an attorney-client relationship with you. The following is not a substitute for the advice of a local attorney. But we hope the information will be useful.
Yes, you need a writ of assistance if the grandparents will not voluntarily hand over the child.

This will empower local law enforcement to accompany you and remove the child from the custody of the grandparents. Yes, you need a lawyer for this and I would suspect it will cost between $250 and $1000 depending. Call around and ask for an estimate.
Good luck.
