Child support can generally be used by you for any purpose directly or indirectly used for the benefit of the child. The Divorce papers should set the amount of support to be paid. Items which the ex pays outside of his obligation as stated in the divorce papers is discretionary. Some divorced parents contribute far above their obligation, while others stick to their obligation.
