If I change my daughter's last name can her biological father be left off the birth certificate?
Full Question:
I have a child who will soon be 16. Her biological father has not been in her life since she was a year and a half, and he passed away eight years ago. My husband wants to adopt her but money is short. Due to some very unpleasant things that her biological father did to both of us, she has never known of his existance and believes my husband is her dad. If we do a name change can the biological fathers name be left off the new birth certificate?

Typically, the only way to remove the father's name from the birth certificate is to prove he's not the biological father.
