How Do I Close the Estate of a Deceased Person in Minnesota?
I am the executor of my father's estate in MN. I have kept copious records of every transaction dealing with the estate and we are ready to close the estate. We have an attorney, but feel that the attorney is going to charge us a great deal of money to do what I have already done. My mother-in-law died May 30, 2010. She was the sole owner of a checking account and a CD. Not sure of the mount of money involed but probably less than $40,000. There was no will or letters of aministration or letters of testamentary. My mother-in was married but my wife was her only his child. Is my wife entitleld with a death certifcate to any of the funds of these accounts.

My brother and I filed A Petition for Summary Administration with the county court and it was approved. My mother is deceased and died intestate. The clerk said we could file a quitclaim deed to have our names placed on the deed. However, I don't see a document that fits this need. What document would we need to achieve this goal.
