What contitutes a legal separation?
Full Question:
My husband told me weather I sign the separation agreement or not, that he wrote his self, all he has to do is show proof that he has his own apartment with receipts proving we have been separated for one year and after the one year he can file for a divorce. He told em it is the law in Virgina. Am I suppose to sign the agreement or does this have to be done legally? Does it matter if I sign it?

If you are not in agreement with the terms in the document, you are not required to sign it. Yes, if you are living apart for a year, he may file for divorce, and then the court will decide what the terms are for support, dividing property, debts. etc.
